Elijah, The Friendly Playful Ghost

I am the last person to believe in hocus-pocus.

We have owned the Village Inn since mid-2001.  The very first night we opened for dinner, I was standing behind the front desk and all of a sudden, the adding machine behind me started spewing out numbers on it’s tape – in essence, adding on its own.  A good omen, but strange, I thought…

On the same front desk I kept a tray of hard candies for guest to help themselves to.  I always kept it full, but not overflowing.   On several occasions over the years I have witnessed individual candies literally jump out of the dish and tumble onto the front desk or floor.  Some might say they were stacked improperly and rolled.  However skeptics, I saw these actually leap out of the dish.  Stranger yet…

A couple of years ago we held regular Sunday afternoon barbecues with live music.  One Sunday afternoon a group of co-workers and I were sitting around a table.  I went to reach for my distinctive cigarette lighter I placed on the table and it was nowhere to be found.  I asked around the table and we all started looking for it.  When we turned back to the table, there it was in plain sight.  Strange that four people did not see the lighter when it was obviously in front of our noses…

We have 10 guest rooms at the Inn.  Over the years, from one particular room, which happens to be the closest room to the location of Elijah’s scattered ashes in a faerie ring sprouted of ancient redwood trees, guests have reported movement in this particular room during the night.  They have said it was nothing sinister or frightening, just strange.

Make your own conclusion.
